Movie Reviews

Tina Turner...soul sensation.

"Another great perfomance thankfully recorded down on video of the Ike and Tina Revue. From the beginning of Tina and the Ikettes storming out on stage, to the final dance steps of Proud Mary, this video shows Ike and Tina doing three great songs. 'Came in Through the Bathroom Window' has to be seen to be believed and Tina's version of 'Get Back' towers over The Beatles version. And ofcourse, the Ike and Tina Turner Revues signature hit 'Proud Mary' captivates the audience. The other performers on this video are good, but nothing can beat Tina's performance. Buy it just to see the Ike and Tina Turner Revue, and you won't be dissapointed!"

"The sensational Soul sounds that defined an era. Ike & Tina Turner belt their signature smash "Proud Mary," Gladys Knight at her vocal height and much, much more! Also includes Lou Rawls, Freda Payne and Bo Diddley. #1341 - 30 min"

"While all The Performers On Here were Great.Nothing Rocks a Stage as Hard as Tina Turner does Here. The Woman Was Born To Rock-N-Roll Period. She just takes over and never Lets up.Ike&The Band were on time but Tina was in Another Zone. She has Been Bad for a Long TIME.She is All that&More. You Gotta See this Tape.I always say Back In The Day The Stage was Your Make or Breaker Time."
Wonderful Songs, Bad Editing

"My review may sound a little bit harsh, but it has to. The perfomance itself is simply great. Tina Turner's dynamic presence here is a new proof that she is THE Soul Queen. Just incredible. What disappointed me was the way they edit the tape. At the each end of the song, the vido distributer inserted unnecessary trivia quiz -- like, who wrote the song "Prond Mary" -- and while the quiz appears on your TV screen, interrupting the picture of the show, we cannot see the performance of those great artists, for whom we paid money! Another complaint is that the response of the audience; it is unbelievable that they can sit before Tina without moving an inch, though it may be because it was shot long time ago and the way people reacted to the music was different. But...remember the heated teens seen in videos like "Shindig"? Or "Hard Day's Night"? Why can they be so quiet, is another thing that sticks to my mind, even though the performances themselves are perfect. And the last thing I complain about is that the video has no data about the place, date, or even year about the show you see. That is also a trivial thing, but much important than those which interrupt our viewing, isn't it? So, overall satisfactory, but those who edited the original tape should have left it intact."
