The DVD has about 27 minutes of historic footage of Herr Wand's life, followed by an interview in 2001 by musicologist Wolfgang Seifert. In the year before his death, Wand recounts memories of his 70 years as a conductor with a reputation for perfection and long rehearsals. His desire was to be in the service of the music as it was written. For example, Bruckner's Fifth Symphony presents the composer's unique metaphysical world-view unaffected by the people around him. The CD plays five Wand excerpts, for example, the first movement of Bruckner's Fifth. Enthusiasts will have or will want the complete works."
