A History of East Germany Amos Lassen First Run Features brings us a two disc set that is a history of East Germany (1949-1990). Using rare archival materials of film, photographs, caricatures, songs and speeches we get a look at the German Democratic Republic. We meet former citizens--some prominent and some unknown who reflect on issues--cultural, economic and politics and in turn give us the history of it from its founding until its fall. We learn about the Berlin Wall and its rise and fall. The economic shortage and stagnation and the citizenb upheavals that eventually brought about the end of the German Democratic Republic.
