Movie Reviews

A great How-To guide to the world of effects
Joe Crescenzi | Staten Island, NY USA | 05/12/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"How many times have you listened to a record and wondered "How did they make a guitar sound like that?" or have you walked into a guitar store and said "What does that gadget do?" Well, this DVD does exactly that. It shows you what each major type of effect is, and how it works.I was a total guitar novice when I ordered this DVD. After I watched the DVD, was able to truly understand what they were talking about and knew exactly what effects were for me."
Great advice for beginners from a master craftsman

"If you're fairly new to guitar sounds, overwhelmed by all the pedal choices on the market, and (like me) reluctant to try any out in a music store, this DVD gives you some great insights into how the basic pedals - overdrive, chorus, compressor, wah wah and others - sound and work. I now understand for the first time how I might be able to get some of my favourite guitar sounds from just a few basic pedals.

And Nick Nolan is definitely the guy to show you. Not only is he a jaw-droppingly good guitar player (really, forget effects, I'd keep this video just to try to pick up some playing tips), but he also explains it all in a very clear and helpful way. All skill and knowledge, and zero rock star attitude. Very professional, very helpful, and very inspiring."
