Movie Reviews

A must see

"This is a must see jamaican movie, especially for the jamaican female population,or for any woman who has worked hard to gain her independence depite life trials.A movie that reminds us of the trials that jamaican women have to endure in her relationship or within our culture for that matter. It is a movie that can remind the jamaican male to honor his jamaican women for our determination to be that mother, wife, lover, friend, and family."
Good to add to your Jamaican entertainment collection

"The movie was ok. But plot was off at times. In the beginning, her childhood girlfriend comes to see Gloria, and Gloria fills her in on what's been happening. But the way they were carrying on, you would think the girlfriend should have known all the things that had happened to her, like having seven kids. And you never really saw her interact with her kids. The ending was like falling of a cliff without knowing how you got on the cliff in the first place. One minute she has nothing, the next she had a hotel. It definitely showed how a Jamaican woman can persevere, but nothing I would aspire to go through. And it was longer than it needed to be. Some of the middle could have been cut out to strenghten the ending. Like I said, good to have in your Jamaican entertainment collection."
It was alright

"Like the other reviewer said this is one to add to your JA movie collection.

The movie was alright ... It was about an abused woman trying to make something of herself while trying to raise a family and deal with her husband who was a womanizing jack @ss.

Each and every time Gloria had sex she ended up pregnant.. Between her husband and herself they had a total of 13 children. The husbands' girlfriend had 6 children, Gloria had 5 by her husband and 2 for some other man from St. Elizabeth.

Gloria herself appeared to be suffering from BWS. That's the only excuse I can come up with as to how on earth she could be so gullible and trusting of a man who whipped her behind, stole and cheated on her repeatedly.

She did leave him for a wealthy older man who she later discovered that he too, cheated(never physically abused her) but then she returned to her abuser. Her husband still continued to cheat, steal and this time even bought his girlfriend a house with Gloria's money. Yet, Gloria took care of him until his dying day-INCREDIBLE

Three stars only because I believe if Gloria's husband didn't drop dead, she would've never been able to accomplish her goal. That husband of hers would've eventually had her , his mistress and all 13 children (and how many other outside children he produced) living underneath one roof.
