It's been quite a while since I've seen this movie, but I did enjoy it and do remember enough about it to have to say that I disagree with some of the negative reviews and low ratings expressed on this web site.
What I recall is thinking that this was one of Ben Stiller's best performances. Yes, he does portray a character who has some issues, but lots of real people do. I think this film did a pretty good job of telling a realistic story about someone who is trying to find themselves by going back home and finding mostly old friends who are still doing exactly what they were when you last saw them in high school.
If you're looking for another slapstick comedy, such as Night At The Museum or Tropic Thunder, this will not fit the bill. On the other hand, if you are looking for something a bit unexpected, this might just be what you're looking for. I thought the characters were well developed and realistic, the movie both thought provoking and funny. It's a film I would actually enjoy watching again. Recommended.

No "Tropic Thunder", but better then the reviews will lead you to believe.

This movie basically just follows Greenberg, who is--to put it simply--a weirdo. He's not crazy, but he's neurotic and it's interesting to see how he reacts in the situations in the film, because he is just slightly off. I would hardly call this a comedy. It's essentially just a detailed look at a semi-interesting character. Unfortunately, the end falls apart and may leave you dissatisfied.
