A classic! Christopher Lambert at his best and Clancy Brown was excellent as a madman! Sean Conner was entertaining as well! A must watch for those who like knight and sword movies!

Always liked this original movie - even after they went back in and changed the Highlander's sword (had to have digitally, I know they didn't re-shoot the movie) several years after release.
Mainly because the opening clan scenes were filmed at Eileen Duhan, the ancestral home castle of my clan, the MacKenzies.
Anyway, good action & I still consider it much better than all the others that followed - although III was pretty good.
(For God's sake, don't EVER get any version of II - it was just a total abortion!)

powerful story, interesting, and new. Sean Connery and Christopher Lambert have wonderful performances, with some excellent writing. The soundtrack is one of the best available (It's a Kind of Magic by Queen.) The villain is one of the most creative in film, and Clancy Brown is amazing in the role.

As with all movies the special effects loose something over time. But the story remains powerful, and one of the things I really like about it is that they do an excellent job of demonstrating that immortality is a horrible curse.

Well worth a watch.
