A very unique concert film

"The High Sierra Music Festival is a mecca for fans of jam and roots music. Set in a gorgeous location and featuring 85 bands over the course of four days, High Sierra has something for everyone. Hitting The High Notes is a very watchable DVD which captures many aspects of the festival - both on and off stage. As a bluegrass lover, my favorite performances are from Leftover Salmon (in their last H.S. performance) and Hot Buttered Rum String Band. Particle is a band that I had never heard or seen before but was impressed by their rockin' show and the Radiators version of "Little Sadie" is totally sick. Segments about all the offstage activities serve as a nice break from the stage performances. And Vince Herman's (of Leftover Salmon) antics have to be seen to be believed! My only complaint is that a few of my favorite High Sierra bands weren't included in the DVD but I understand that the filmmakers could only include a select number in the final product. Oh well, I can only hope for another great concert film from this festival. Highly recommended!"
