Incredible Incarnation !!

"I saw this tour at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles in Sept.,1986. I have seen over 1000 shows of every type and genre of music since then. This STILL continues to rate as one of the TOP 10 concerts that I have seen of all Time ! Joe Zawinul on Keys,Victor Bailey on Bass,Peter Erskine on Drums,Robert Thomas Jr. on Percussion and NO Wayne Shorter.Don`t get me wrong; I LOVE Wayne. This was a nice departure from Weather Report in that they brought in a Guitar player to replace the Sax;and Ladies and Gentleman, that Guitar player was none other then Steve Khan,in top form I might add ! One of the best Jazz Fusion shows you will ever see !
The only crime is the terrible editing job, as in many music concert videos. The Guitar player is doing his most ripping solo of the show, and they are focusing on Zawinul`s mustache. When I saw this show it was just under 90 minutes, but for this edit , it is a 60 minute DVD.Why !!! Or at least if you are going to edit it down to 60 minutes,do not take out the best song of the show, by far "Man with the Copper Fingers".Oh Well. You have to appreciate it for the taste that you do get, which is excellent calibur musicianship, as always!"
Satisfied but not really satisfied!

"What can I say. There was 15 years of Weather report, and so the higher powers decide to put this group in 1986 (that didn't even last a year) on a DVD release. I wish the higher powers would release a weather report dvd with jaco from the mid 70's, but they would have to be a bunch of a geniouses to do that!It doesn't make sense.
Oh I forgot according to steve khan website,"The DVD contains 7 tracks, but is missing what was, perhaps, our best tune, "Madagascar" and the duet Joe and I used to play of "In a Silent Way." and according to the first review on this site, the left off the amazing tune "Man with the Copper Fingers". They left off 30 minutes of the concert, which is a 60 min DVD concert. WOW, more genious! These producers left some great tunes off of the video, I guess they didn't want us to hear them, since were all zawinul fans. Please, someone should have told them it's not a VHS but a DVD, and that they could put a another whole hour on the disc. Why must us fusion fans suffer.Damn!
Anyway, Victor Bailey is awsome on "Consequently" , "Badia" is real nice and as always Zawinul is the man. Nobody can do what he does. I just wish they would have shown the whole show, and organized the songtitles with the chapters on time. 5 stars always for zawinul and this rare gem, it's not possible for him to make 1,2 or 3 stars in a review."
Oh Well...

"As a fan of Weather Report from the very start, I have every WR, Zawinul Syndicate and Zawinul solo recording on vinyl and CD. I've caught live performances of Weather Report and Zawinul Syndicate and was looking forward to getting this DVD as soon as I saw it was available. Oh well, I must say I am not thrilled by this effort.

The performance is okay BUT the video editing is terrible. Choppy, jumpy, cluttered and annoying to watch. The camera men keep getting in each others way and seem to find it hard to get clear shots of the performers. The sound quality is somewhat muddled too... the mix of the instruments sounds uneven at times.

I was hoping for something better, a shame since video recordings of this fine group are virtually non-existent. Short performance for a lot of money... I leave it up to you. Die hard fans will no doubt want to own this but I was left feeling unsatisfied."
