Movie Reviews

Entertaining, but brief, introduction to the subject.
Dymon Enlow | 03/13/2008
(3 out of 5 stars)

"Cramming the entire history (at least up until 1994) of the Empire State Building into 41 minutes is an impossible task but this program does a good job of hitting the major events (construction, tourist attraction, the 1945 B-25 bomber wreck) and even has time to point out some lesser known facts (some of the top lights are turned off at certain times of year to prevent migrating birds from crashing into the building, two failed dirigible mooring attempts and during the bomber crash a woman fell 75 floors in an elevator and lived) with lots of great vintage film footage.

Watching this DVD isn't going to help you ace an Empire State Building exam, but it is a good entertaining introduction to the subject.

I was disappointed that there was no mention of the many suicides that have taken place at the Empire State Building. They could have at least mentioned 1979 attempt where a woman jumped from the 86th floor only to be blown back into the 85th floor!"
Tall building......Short DvD.

"I saw a longer Tv documentary on the building of the Empire State sometime ago.I mistakenly thought it was this. It's good and informative but not the one i saw on TV.This one is short and sweet."
