Movie Reviews

Some love it, some hate it
Salvatore Cangemi | Bayside, New York United States | 06/20/2003
(2 out of 5 stars)

"Mixed reviews. Always hard to come to a conclusion when half the reviews are 5 stars and the other half are one. So let's break it down: Sound, very good. I had to toy with my 5.1 settings a bit but finally got it and was happy. Sight: great, sharp video. Extras, good, some cool old footage. So what's the problem? First, I really wish this was a normal show with just Moterhead doing its thing. Instead we get about a third of the songs with guests joining the band and it's totally lame. Secondly, as seems to be the current fad the video jumps all over at that "MTV generation/beyond short attention span" rate. The cameras are not still for a second. I'm in my 30s and I know that the younger people have grown-up with this sort of thing but I still cannot get used to it. So there you have it. If you don't mind strobe-like, video game-like camera movements and hacks like Doro destroying Motorhead classics you will love this DVD."
Motorhead Celebrates 25th Anniversary in Style!

"Not many bands manage to make it to their 25th birthday. Even less have the level of influence on the world of rock that Motorhead have exerted. Some of the worlds biggest bands continually give a nod to Lemmy and the boys, citing them as the reason they first picked up a guitar. It seems only fitting that Motorhead would celebrate their 25th Anniversary in real style. Going back to their roots, the band played a special show at London's famous Brixton Academy. With special guests like Brian May (QUEEN), Fast Eddie Clark (ex-Motorhead), Whitfield Crane (UGLY KID JOE) and Doro Pesch (DORO, WARLOCK), the stage was set for a very special evening. The entire event was captured on film and is now presented here in DVD format. The DVD also features lots of behind the scenes and backstage material as well as interviews unique to this release. There are even some cool easter eggs for you to discover! This is the difinitive Motorhead concert - a milestone in the career of these metal giants!"
STAND UP STRAIGHT!

""If this band moved in next door to you, your lawn would die." -- Lemmy
To paraphrase Bill Murray, there are two types of people in this world: those who love Motörhead, and those who are pathetic wimps. This DVD is an absolute blast. From classics like "Metropolis" and "Iron Fist" to new rockers like "Stay Out of Jail" and "Sacrifice", there's not a bad song in the nearly two-hour set. (Was there ever a bad Motörhead song, really?) Cools extras like the Wacken Open Air show, "Ain't No Nice Guy" unplugged, music videos, bios, interviews, etc., make this DVD a great value for Motörheadbangers everywhere. It's my favourite music DVD and I'd gladly lend it to you... but then I hardly know you, so you'll just have to get your own. Buy two and give one to your neighbour. It's the least you can do after killing his lawn."
Outstanding !!

"I cannot describe the feeling that you receive from seeing a motorhead live concert, the nearest experience you can get without buying a ticket & get into a mass filled fan auditorium is buying this dvd or some of the live LP's, in fact the dvd gives you all, the sound is incredible 5.1 standard, the live set is awesome, it is also fulfilled with extras, hidden features. I have seen it maybe 30 times & keep going, also there are two promotional videos (sacrifice & god save the queen), videos from Lemmy & Phil playing "I ain't no nice guy", 4 live songs from the wacken open air festival in germany in 2001.
In short you get everything you want from a live dvd, the cameras & the sound is over the top! You get assaulted, insulted, & you end deaf from hearing Motorhead as a bonus! Long life to Lemmy Kilmister, Phil Campbell & Mr. Dee!"
