This was a pretty gory movie and Kevin Costner did an outstanding job of acting, switching from good father and husband to serial killer and William Hurt must have had a blast acting as his alter-ego. It certainly had some surprises.

Wow! Kevin Costner has given one of his finest performances in this little underrated gem. Earl Brooks is a pillar of the community, a loving husband and father, the perfect man to the world looking in.
But Mr. Brooks has a dark secret that he's hidden for many, many years. He's a killer. And after a two year lapse from his addiction, he's hungry for the kill. Although he does try to resist, he can't change who he is and the demon inside always comes through.
MR. BROOKS is amazing. The script is crisp and clean. The pacing is spot on. I honestly can't find anything about this movie to rag on. This is a must see for the horror/thriller fan.
And the ending is a real killer.

Great way to portray the evil voice in the sociopath's head.

Excellent movie. Costner plays creepy well for being the "nice guy" in most movies.

Costner is surprisingly evil in this suburban-psycho thriller. William Hurt is also fantastic as the 'alter-ego' character. What is Demi Moore or the annoying Dane Cook doing in this one? I couldn't tell you, but luckily they don't distract from the action.
A graphic and gory film- Like the ones hey used to make in the 80's, but now most are PG13. Enjoyable movie-and don't worry. Kevin doesn't struggle with an accent this time!

Dane Cook gets what's coming to him and that's worth seeing...:)
...This is a complex thriller with great performances by Costner and William Hurt. Very clever in its presentation of the ego behind the serial killer. Watch it...I decided to keep this copy in my permanent collection.
