"I got "En Acústico" as a Christmas present and was pleasantly surprised by it. It's been quite a long time since I last played a Pandora CD, so I was glad to find out that 20 years later, though they may be combing one or two gray hairs, their voices are still as strong and beautiful as ever.
The songs are old favorites with new arrangements. The musical accompaniment has been reduced to a couple of guitars, piano, percussion and drums with occasional strings and a trumpet, so that it is Isabel, Fernanda and Mayte's voices that take center stage. Their singing is filled with feeling but yet it's soft and even relaxing, which I find appealing since nowadays "yelling" through a song seems to be the norm. The stage, which was constructed to resemble one at a club or in a restaurant, is small and illuminated by a few lights and lots of candles. All of which contribute to an intimate and casual setting that goes well with Pandora's harmonies.
This DVD has 15 songs. The bonus material is comprised by a photo gallery from the concert and a 14-minute documentary that includes the rehearsals, the construction of the stage and Pandora's thoughts about their career, the songs and the album.
The only thing I wish for is that somebody would have given Pandora more happy songs. All those songs about betrayal and broken hearts can get you sometimes. Otherwise, it's "Bravo!" for this DVD.
