Movie Reviews

" a great war film made by the chinese from their view"
L. Gay | , WICHITA,KANSAS | 09/13/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"" a great and timely film from the chinese side of the atrocities of war and strife! shows that no matter where...and what differences there are between ethnic peoples and races, and language differences, that all can be overcome and all can come together. This film, contains that message, that we all are together in this world and that peaces is ultimately needed, but that first, people can see thru differences and racial and ethnical strifes/differences, if there is respect and working together, and trying to be very tolerant to understanding...to each individual, you can achieve soem harmony and peace. I can say from me...this is a powerful film and contains much war scenes..though distrubing...are not the one the levels of a something "TAE GUK GI" or "SAVING PRIVATE RYAN", but nonetheless, a well made and larger budgeted film that even i thought, and is favorite of mine that i never tired to watch. There is much great filmatography in the movie..and the characters, you do have time to get to feel for and get to know thru the flashbacks, and the interactions thru speech and even miming, but i wished there were more time for the character complex developments to shine thru and endear the film watcher to them. The film has a powerful, and internal messege, and is right on track to be a very great and thoughtful and contraversial film, that delivers a powerful message to those who know history...and want to learn about this dark age in the world..and to those who wish to never repeat a very painful history as this during our world wars."
