Reach For Me is a movie full of heart! I first recall Seymour Cassel from the fun "California Dreaming" in which he toted around an extremely heavy surf board (made out of redwood). He has been a character actor, seen in many films in background roles and this one is a starring role for this great actor who has such a sweet face yet is now a tyrant who hates life in a hospice (he is dying of cancer). But his character Alvin sees the light and with help from several folk, especially Alfre Woodard, Adrienne Barbeau, and Levar Burton (who also directs) he becomes a better man who finds he can actually make friends and enjoy life, or at least what is left of it for him.
A real standout is Johnny Whitworth who plays Kevin a roommate who is dying but living it up until the inevitable happens. Try it you will be captured just as I have been!
