Live concert intermixed with interviews from Dylan to others that were in the tour. As a Dylan fan, I have to say his "singing" on some of the songs is pretty raw and off key in comparison to the finished versions on his albums; but if you're a Dylan fan this isn't much of a criticism. I thought Joan Baez was candid. When asked her opinion of the people on the tour she said, "They were people who had slit each others throats to get there." Several commentaries expressed how everyone wanted to be in the spotlight and would do anything to get there. When she was asked if she had any reservations about going on the tour, she said, "I thought it sounded like. . .fun, but I had already experienced Dylan." The way she says his name, you can sense a not-so-positive history there. That in contrast to Dylan's praise of Joan as a "meteor." (Read "Positively 4th Street: The Lives and Times of Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Mimi Baez Fariña, and Richard Fariña") I loved Scarlett Rivera, an American violinist, playing in the video. She is best known for her work with Bob Dylan, in particular on his 1976 album "Desire" and as part of the Rolling Thunder Revue. She's an artist in her own right. One highlight of the video was the section on Allen Ginsberg, both his readings and Dylan's commentary on Ginsberg that was surprisingly insightful. For me, the rose colored glasses are off when it comes to Bob Dylan, though I still love the majority of his work. Well worth a watch.
