The lovably ugly green ogre returns with his green bride and furry, hooved friend in Shrek 2. The newlywed Shrek and Princess Fiona are invited to Fiona's former kingdom, Far Far Away, to have the marriage blessed by Fiona... more »'s parents--which Shrek thinks is a bad, bad idea, and he's proved right: The parents are horrified by their daughter's transformation into an ogress, a fairy godmother wants her son Prince Charming to win Fiona, and a feline assassin is hired to get Shrek out of the way. The computer animation is more detailed than ever, but it's the acting that make the comedy work--in addition to the return of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz, Shrek 2 features the flexible voices of Julie Andrews (Mary Poppins), John Cleese (Monty Python's Flying Circus), Antonio Banderas (Desperado), and Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous) as the gleefully wicked fairy godmother. --Bret Fetzer« less
I do like this movie, but since my children are getting older I am really trying to thin down the movies that I don't want them to see...unless they are my age! I know I am a lot pickier than the average parent, but as much as I like it I would rather they not see it, yet. :)

We got the movie for my three year old son and he, as well as the rest of the family, really enjoys it. It's got some really cute music that he'll get up and dance to.

Fun sequel to the first movie, with more great voice work by the cast. The extra "Far Far Away Idol" is quite funny as well.

Watching the first Shrek after this one, you will almost feel like something is missing because Puss N' Boots is not in it. Shrek 2 is everything a sequel should be. it's bigger, it's funnier, it's got new characters that are not annoying, and it's a reaffirmation of everything the first movie convinced you of-Fiona and Shrek are in love, and it's the world who will need to adjust to that, not them who need to adjust to the world. It's a wonderful movie with humor adults can appreciate that is vague enough children won't quite understand should they hear it (like Puss N' Boots getting caught with cat nip), but don't worry-there is plenty enough humor for the children, as well. Pinocchio, the Gingerbread Man, the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf in Drag, we get to see more of these characters, too. Captain Hook, Sleeping Beauty, the Frog Prince, the Ugly Step-sister...keep an eye out for all the fairy tale royalty, because you shall surely see quite a few!

Shrek 2 is a fun frolic for the whole Family! If you enjoyed the first part of this adorable Dreamworks studio picture, I guarantee you'll fall in love with this sequel. Shrek and Fiona are off on another adventure with each other (including cool, smooth talking Donkey, voiced by Chris Rock I believe) and along the way they meet some new friends and foes. Fiona wants Shrek to meet her parents so they go to the kingdom, but trouble starts when a terrible secret is hidden at first, and then finally revealed, such a great ending to this cute story it will leave you cheering for more. A must see Family film for people of ALL ages! ;-)
