Movie Reviews

Souvenir (Based on the Book "The Pork Butcher") By David Hug
TK or SR Davis | Roseville, MN USA | 05/28/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"In 1944, a dashing German soldier and a beautiful French girl fell deeply in love while World War II raged on. More than forty years later, Ernest Kestner (Christopher Plummer - National Treasure, The Sound of Music) retired and recently widowed, leaves his adopted home in New York and returns to France to visit his headstrong, estranged daughter (Cathrine Hicks - Star Trek IV, The Voyage Home, "7th Heaven") with the fleeting hope of finding the love he was forced to leave behind.

Based on a true story of the massacre of an entire French town as WWII was near its end. Most every man, woman and child was gunned down or burned in retaliation for the French Resistance. The entire town, Oradour-sur-Glane, has been preserved as a memorial. This DVD takes you on a historical tour of that town.
