I ordered this DVD to replace my "regular" (non special collector's edition) DVD. I wanted the extras, interviews, etc. In my opinion, this is perhaps the best of the Star Trek movies and I highly recommend it. It's a good sci-fi movie, even if you are not a die hard ST fan.

How to put this simply? Despite its age and despite many newer "blockbusters," this is simply the best movie of the Star Trek series, by pretty much any measure.

Ricardo Montalban reprises his inimitable role as Khan. Kirk comes out of retirement. Adventure and rekindled romance ensue. We meet Kirk's grown son (who isn't especially fond of him). Sulu gets taken over by an alien parasite and becomes Khan's puppet for part of the movie. Scotty's son {nephew?} dies. Spock dies.

If you like Star Trek and have never seen this movie, you are REQUIRED to give it at least one watching. Sure, the special effects might look a bit dated by today's standards. But c'mon, this is a runaway Classic. Just as the second film in the Alien series (Aliens) far outshined the original, so too does Wrath of Khan far and away outshine Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
