"This is the original Simitar DVD release of "Stranger By Night." The picture and sound quality is excellent, though there are no extra features, just the chapter index, which is nice.I don't have the new "collector's edition" on DVD, hopefully someone will review this and let us know if its worth getting.William Katt gives an excellent performance, but the picture belongs to Steven Bauer, who is always great to watch. Fans will be happy to know there's another steamy Bauer nude scene of his along with Jennifer Rubin."
Not a great movie but not that bad either

"STRANGER BY NIGHT was a straight to video movie that was never released in theatres. Although the movie is not great by any means and the performances of its actors are nothing to rave out it is still a watchable movie. On the DVD cover it reads that William Katt gives a bravura performance. In my opinion his performance is far from being a bravura performance it is average at best is not bad but certainly not great and much less a bravura as they're hailing it that it is. Steven Bauer is no better just fair. His acting is definitely not his best I've seen him do better but like Katt's performance is not bad either. This is not a bad movie (I've seen much worse) but is a shame that a talented actor like Steven Bauer is isn't more adapt to his character and the same can be said for William Katt and the rest of the cast. Jennifer Rubin as the shrink's that is not only trying to figure out what is going inside Bauer's head (she is also his lover) is good to watch because she is very sexy and alluring. STRANGER BY NIGHT is a movie to watch when there is nothing good to see on TV or you have nothing better to do. Again, the movie is not a complete waste by any means is just not as good as it should of been. The plot is a great one and it would made a terrific movie if the lead actors were more engaging in their roles and actually disect the complexities of their characters."
