Warning--Pricing Doesn't Make Sense

"You can buy the 4 seasons individually on Amazon for a total of $84, or you can buy "Supernatural: The Complete Seasons 1-4" for $161.49 (the price on 24 December 2009) which is almost twice as much."
Fabulous underrated show -- Don't miss it

"I discovered this show recently. It had some things going against it. The CW -- 'nuf said. Relatively unknown leads and it's in the horror genre, which at least for me, was a turn off. I fear it might be a turn off for some other women as well, since generally that genre belongs to the boys.

Please don't let any of this keep you from this gem of a show. The horror aspect is a device to tell the story of two brothers and their father who need to face the demon that destroyed their lives when the boys were very little. In the pilot we learn that when the youngest, Sammy, was an infant and the oldest, Dean, was four years old their mother is killed in a horrific way that includes a fire in Sammy's nursery. Dean takes his baby brother out of the house on their dad's instructions and thus starts a family dynamic of caring and responsibility that continues well into adulthood.

The show brings humor and snark, pathos and energy, cool creatures and spine tingling suspense. But mostly the show brings these fully conceived men to life -- fears, faults, broken psyches and impossible promises. Yet the single most compelling aspect is the love between the brothers, played with subtlety and nuance to perfection by the show's highly talented leads Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, who inhabit their characters so completely that as a viewer every punch (both physical and emotional) is felt. Jeffery Dean Morgan portrays their father and when all three are together your television will hum.

Anyone who enjoys tightly written subtly played drama, fun single episodes interwoven within fantastic, epic-scale grander arcs and characters that grow organically as the seasons progress will find much to love in this show. Plus, if you are like me and really appreciate continuity and consequences then this show will never disappoint. When something happens, it sticks. Just like real life.

Hip, Fun, and Spooky

"Supernatural tells the story of two brothers (Dean and Sam) who experienced the loss of their mother at the hands of a malevolent spirit who likes to tack his victims to the ceiling before engulfing them in flames!

The show could loosely be classified as supernatural horror. Some of the shows are more fun, and others are quite spooky. The brothers each bring a different appeal (Dean being the bad boy loner, and Sam being the clean college driven by revenge). Both actors (Jensen Ackles, Jared Padelecki) are outstanding, working well off each other and the clever scripts.

Each episode is an introduction to some new evil (from dopplegangers to ghosts to anything else you can find in a dusty text on creature lore). Besides making the world a better place, the brothers are also seeking revenge for both their mother and a girlfriend (ah, poor Jess). The closest thing I have seen on TV to Supernatural was the original Kolchak: The Night Stalker series way back in 1974.

If you're looking for a fun and sometimes spooky show starring two excellent young actors, pick up the Supernatural series. Highly recommended!

Written by Arthur Bradley, author of "Process of Elimination" - a thriller that pits a martial artist against a world-class sniper out to shape the presidential election.

As always, please be kind enough to indicate if reviews are helpful."
Who ya gonna call? I'm putting Sam and Dean on Speed Dial

"Forget Calling Ghost Busters, if you have troubles with Ghosts, Demons, Vampires, Ghouls or any other supernatural creature, you want to call Sam and Dean; these guys know how to kick monster butt and they are HOT HOT HOT! Hot Guys with a Rad Car, Classic Rock and cool monster effects will have you begging for more. Some of the guys involved with the production of Supernatural were also key figures in the production of the X-Files and you may see some similarities, however these story have a new dynamic edge to them, with Great Writing and State of Art Special Effects. Supernatural will have you checking under the bed for monsters and maybe even under the sheets for Sam or Dean (if only...).GREAT SHOW!"
