Movie Reviews

Tons of shinfo

"If you are an ETID fan, you need all this shinfo added to your brain. If seeing other people throw up makes you throw up, have a bucket handy."
I guess "live" means something different to ETID...

"I really like this band a lot, and they're pretty good live as well. Thus, I was really excited when I saw they had a dvd with "ridiculous amounts of live songs." Well, there is a decent amount of video of live performances, but there are only about 4 performances of actual live songs on the dvd. I don't know what "live" means to ETID, but to me, it means video of live performances AND the original live audio tracks. As other reviewers have previously mentioned, almost all of the "live" footage is video of the performances with the studio tracks played over top. I've bought many live dvds in the past and none of them have EVER had the studio tracks played over the live songs. I feel like they should be forced to mention this on the packaging. If they had, I certainly wouldn't have spent $14 on it. And like I said, ETID is a good live band. I don't know why they felt the need to do this unless it was just less expensive. Still, this totally constitutes false advertising in my book.

As for the other footage, I don't really know where to begin. While I did find myself laughing a few times (i.e., the igniting of band members' hair, the passing out game) I mostly kept zoning out. Maybe it's mildly entertaining if one is VERY drunk while watching it. The footage definitely should have been more tightly edited. I enjoy stupid humor as much as the next person, but this is way too over the top (and NOT in a good way). It's just boring.

This dvd totally does not do this band justice. And while I still love their music, I'm pretty freaking angry that they allowed me to waste my money on something that should've been given away as a promo (or better yet, kept within the band to watch at christmas parties or something). This may very well be the worst live dvd ever. Seriously, it feels like they got a band member's 13 year old brother to put it together.

The ONLY reason I'm even giving this 2 stars is because of the scarce funny moments, the few actual LIVE songs, and the music videos. Embarrassingly amateur. Boo."
Waste

"I got this dvd when it came out, and I just saw it sitting around with dust all over it and I remembered why I haven't watched it since the first time. Its stupid. Its got a couple of live songs on with the CD audio over it. And a bunch of stupid inside jokes. I LOVE the first 2 cds from ETID. But this dvd is just stupid. Its like something them and there friends would watch and laugh about... for the rest of us... just a waste of money!"
