Movie Reviews

Overall, a terrific first
Jordan E | Sunnyvale, TX | 08/19/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Taken as a whole, it's terrific. It has a very wide range of bands; some of them are vying for that dubious distinction of Worst Band I've Ever Heard In My Life. For instance, Danielson Famile and Havalina Rail Co. are just too wierd, and, sorry, I just don't get into stuff like Living Sacrifice or Training For Utopia. On the flipside, the Supertones and Stavesacre videos were very good. The two Ghoti Hooks were entertaining. Plankeye had some good ones. The videos from Value Pac, Slick Shoes, Flight 180, and the last one from Joy Electric were pure fun. It was interesting to watch the evolution of the bands that had multiple videos. The first of the seven MxPx videos (Want Ad) is a short, immature punk song, shot probably in 8 millimeter, written about how he wants a girl. The last one (Move To Bremerton) is a very good, singable song, beautifully shot in what looks like might be film, written about ...how he wants a girl. The videos from Fanmail, Starflyer 59, Puller, Mike Knott, The Dingees, and Project 86 are all hidden gems. Fold Zandura is a band I had previously not heard anything from, but their video makes me wonder what I'm missing. In addition to those bands, it also has videos from Strongarm, Stretch Arm Strong, Velour 100, Outer Circle, Morella's Forest, Joe Christmas, The Huntingtons, Dogwood, Crux, Ninety Pound Wuss, and Driver Eight. Even the ad for Tooth&Nail Mailorder was good! This DVD is a great idea from an always forward-looking label. I would love to see other labels like ForeFront, Gotee, Star Song, 5 Minute Walk, Re:Think, or Essential do this. I would buy them in a heartbeat. So, if all that doesn't convince you to get this, realize that all the industry will be watching how this product sells. So buy this, support DVD technology in the CCM industry, and have fun doing it!"
A great collection of videos presented pretty well.

"I was lucky enough to have a chance to preview this at T&N's booth at Cornerstone 2000.This is a collection of every music video T&N has done since 1993. For the most part, there are a number of bands with just one or two videos, then T&N headliner bands like MxPx and the OC Supertones have a stack each -- not so bad since they have been signed a little longer. All the videos I've seen so far are of excellent quality. My real beef is with the menu system -- nothing special, just text over a plain background. You are given the option to choose a band and view the videos done by that band in order (chronologically by album), or you can watch all the videos done by either T&N or the imprint BEC recordings -- first alphabetically by band, then chronologically by album. The last option is to watch every video on the dvd.Overall, I highly recommend this dvd -- a great collection with something for everyone -- especially if you like good punk and hardcore."
Awesome!

"Tooth and Nail has pulled out all the stops and put together a great DVD (for the most part). While some of the videos were great others were either boring or just plain stupid.
