One of Peck's Best. Also my favoritemovie about the air war over Europe. This movie really portratys the heartache these brave men endured in order to defeat Hitler and his cronies. Although the fictional nature of the movie is rather obvious it does give insight into the grief soldiers experience when confronted by death daily. The men who fought these battles, some of them dying horible deaths, received very little recognition for putting their lives on the line. World War II veterans are fast becoming a rare breed. Every time I think about the sacrifices our boys have given, I get just a little closer to understanding the term, "The Greatest Generation", Truely that fits the men and women of that generation.

This is a wonderful, true-to-life depiction of what the beginning phase of USA involvement in WWII was like. It showed the psychological toll that the air war and daylight bombing took on the personnel involved both in the air and on the ground.
