THE VARUKERS ON VIDEO !!!!
JUAN MARTIN GABASTOU | Weston Hills, FL United States | 09/06/2007
(2 out of 5 stars)

"Main feature is a live set at The Oval, Norwich in '98, presenting their reunion cd ¨Murder¨ along with another bunch of songs most of which can't be found recorded live anywhere else. But that's where the charm of this dvd comes to a halt. And it's the sound quality that ruins what could have been the definitive Varukers on video. Tonal quality is horrendous, all you get to hear is an ultra-trebley guitar burying everything else, practically no drums, voice or bass, which makes for the sloppiest set this usually ultra-tight band has ever played.I had a really hard time making one song from the other, and I'm a die-hard fan !!! Bonus tracks are merely anecdotic, consisting of live clips of the band on world tour, which have no better sound, exception made of 2 songs filmed at NY's legendary CBGB and the ¨Soldier Boy¨ live clip from UK/DK. No interviews or anything else. Filming is pro-shot with decent VHS quality. Man I've downloaded better Varukers audio booties from the internet !!!
Not the best place to start with this excellent band !!!"
