Four years unjustly jailed haven't dampened the spirits or determination of Nikki Finn. The spunky parolee sets out to clear her name - and sets the Big Apple spinning in deliriously funny ways. "Madonna is sexy and funny ... more »- a very engaging comedian," Vincent Canby of The New York Times wrote of her work in Who's That Girl. The music/movie superstar displays kicky comic flair and sings four terrific soundtrack tunes (Causing a Commotion, The Look of Love, Can't Stop and the title song). Griffin Dunne co-stars as an uptight, soon-to-wed attorney whose mild lifestyle swerves into the path of uproarious oncoming traffic courtesy of Nikki. This frisky caper proves screwball comedy is alive and swell.« less
If you are looking for a classic silly and unpretentious comedy, typical of the 80s ... then you absolutely must watch this film! It has a really great soundtrack; formidable actors (Griffine Dunne!!) and an absolutely sexy protagonist....

I watched this movie with some trepidation -- I like Madonna's music (Hard Candy and Ray of Light excepted), but I wasn't optimistic about how she'd fare as an actor (I hadn't seen any of her other movies before). I needn't have worried -- rather against the odds, Who's That Girl is an extremely funny movie. Madonna actually handles the acting pretty well; I've read reviews complaining that her accent was bad, but it sounds very New York to me (a non-New Yorker): a lot like Cyndi Lauper's voice, actually. This isn't the film for you if you're looking for something to think about, but if you just want an hour and a half of fun and laughter, it doesn't get much better. 4.5/5.

"This is my favorite Madonna movie and one of my favorite 80's movies because it is so funny and Madonna plays such a unique character.
Madonna plays Nikki Finn, a street-wise ex-con with white hair and a good left hook.
Nikki meets up with Louden Trott (played by Griffin Dunne) who was assigned to pick her up after she was released from prison and take her to the bus station. Mr. Worthington (Bibi Besch) doesn't want Nikki anywhere near his daughter Wendy's (Haviland Morris) wedding to Louden because he was the one who set her up to go to the big house!
Nikki convinces Louden to stop at the mall because after all her mom thinks she's been shopping for the past four years so it wouldn't be very nice to come home empty handed. But Nikki has ulterior motives because she wants to "cleah my name" and prove to everyone that she was set up.
It's now a race to see if Nikki can con Louden into helping her. Along the way they fall in love. But Louden is an uptight boy from Scarsdale who has reservations about a kooky girl from Philly.
But, Nikki gets to Louden's wedding and stops the preacher in mid-sentence so that she can tell everyone that Mr. Worthington set her up. She also informs everyone that Louden is really in love with her, and this time he has the backbone to fight for her. Wendy doesn't mind though, she has her hot UPS driver to keep her company.
Louden and Nikki take their bus trip together back to Philly as Madonna's third '87 hit plays, "Who's That Girl."
Madonna's acting was wonderful, and she sounded so funny and looked very sexy. But the poor thing was crucified for this picture, unrightfully so.

"I am waiting with baited breath until the DVD version is released. This has been one of my favorite movies for over 10 years. Now I'll admit that this wasn't the "best" movie ever made and lacks just about everything that the movie critics are looking for, BUT - the movie is hilarious, has great comedy writers, great music and makes you feel good! I think that's how people ultimately judge movies, how it makes you feel!So it may not have been nominated for a Golden Globe or Oscar, but if you LOVE Madonna and enjoy a simple comedy, you can't beat Who's That Girl!"

"I couldn't believe my eyes when I got the e-mail from Amazon.com that this DVD was FINALLY getting released! It's still two months away, but it's worth every minute of waiting.
This is my favorite Madonna movie, hands down. It actually has a funny, yet clever plot, great soundtrack and some hilarious one-liners that you won't soon forget. The thing about this movie is you can watch it over and over and it never gets old. Some of my favorite one liners are: "Lowden Clear - well he hasn't exactly been Valentino in the sack lately"; "No one shushes Nikki Fin"; "Knock Knock, Who's There? Boo. Boo Hoo? Don't cry, we'll take the apartment!"; "Murray the Tiger! If there's only four left, it's not like you're gonna have another Murray"; and many others.
Let the countdown begin!"

"This film is so funny and is sure to be entertaining even if you aren't a Madonna fan!!! Madge plays Nikki Finn, an ex-con who has to get home to Pennsylvania as soon as possible. Louden Troot (Griffin Dune) is hired to bring Nikki to the bus station to ship her away for good!! But a funny thing happens on the way to the bus station.... ....they fall in love. This makes Louden rethink his wedding plans and leads to a very happy ending!!!
This is a feel-good movie that you need to buy RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS - Be sure to buy Madonna's new album "Confessions on a Dance Floor" out November 15th!!"
