Movie Reviews

I wish I could give it a 0

"I received this movie in damaged condition so I returned it for a refund. HOWEVER, I saw it at a friends house and it was AWFUL. Of course, it's homemade quality, terrible lighting, and shaky camera work. You can barely hear the actors but the sound effects are loud. The movie was stupid, the plot, was foolish, and the fright factor was non exisitent. The movie had a couple spiders, shadowy figures, a drop of a telephone book, and a tipped over bottle for action/scare. WOW! This movie was painfully dumb. Don't waste your time and ESPECIALLY do not waste your money."
With WHO?
Charles H. Levenson | new jersey | 01/07/2008
(1 out of 5 stars)

"The film"With You"might more aptly be titled"WITH WHO?",or "With What?"...This is the sort of thing that college cinema students do as a class project..Don't get me wrong here, some of that stuff is really well done, given the budget limitations and inexperience of both cast and crew, but inorder for any film to work you have to have a coherent SCRIPT..This is the major flaw with"With You"...
A 20-something white collar worker,a college grad,is tired of his nine to five gig ...He quits his job, abruptly, burning his white collar bridges behind him, arranges with his old college chum,a"Rush" music fan and drinking pal who now manages(owns?)an ice cream palor,to move to some out of the way rural town and start over...Starting over,in this case, means sweeping the floor in what appears to be a hardware store for an old guy named Mr.Klein(hardly what one would expect a college grad to be doing, but just one more of the flaws in this script)..The college grad has rented a room that overlooks a spookly looking old mansion, according to the locals the only such view in the entire town(the mansion itself is nothing more than cardboard, and is so obviously this as to be pathetic)..It seems that the house alledgedly is haunted by a sinister past resident known as"Old Eamon",who"sometimes"comes out into the town to do damage..Then there is something about other people who have lived in the rooms in which the college guy now lives in...they either disappear or turn up dead on a regular basis...lastly there is the mystery hearse that turns up before something"bad"happens to someone..Now given that this is supposedly a small town, the fact that so many people have died or gone missing from the same rooms should be of at least some interest to the local police, but in this script the local police seem unaware of any of these past happenings, and when they do learn of it(in a contrived scene where an officer discovers the NEWSPAPER ACCOUNTS all filed in a shoebox(!) there is no real concern about why,or who done it...
Any way, this Mr.Klein knows all about the goings on the missing and the dead(it is HIS SHOEBOX THAT HOLDS THE NEWSPAPER ACCOUNTS!),and he vows not to let his new employee, the white collar floor-sweeper meet the same fate..He DOESN'T BOTHER TO TELL HIS EMPLOYEE WHAT AWAITS HIM however, and just when he decides to tell the hearse appears,as does a dark shadow which presumably is"Old Eamon"...Mr.Klein dies and is buried...The haunting, voices, and other standard spook stuff that have been going on all of the time at the college boy's rooms increase, his pal the"Rush"fan is in some sort of accident involving the mysterious hearse(winding up in the hospital as a sort of psych patient who needs restraints)while trying to bring the shoebox full of evidence to him...The cop finds the shoebox, examines the evidence inside, and does nothing, merely scratching his(EMPTY)head and muttering"What do I do now"?,the phone goes dead at the haunted rooms, the collegeboy has car trouble and can't leave, and Mr.Klein's corpse disappears from his grave...
In the end after all of the repeated hints that"Old Eamon" is once again out and about, the college boy, isolated in his rooms,is finally whisked away by the disappearing corpse of Mr.Klein, winding up buried alive on the weed-infested property where the old house sits, with the re-animated corpse of Mr.Klein as company, the latter happily chewing away at the college grad's shoulder...
What did it all mean?Did it mean anything at all?I doubt that even the script-writer can say with certainty ...
In any event, the scares are few,the confusion is ample, and the acting is so-so."
Truely Scary
S. N. Laurence | 09/18/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is a truely scary movie. Not a bloody, slasher type film. This one builds suspense, and drama to an ending that I did not see coming. Very satisfying as a horror film . This is one to rent or buy. I have watched it several times and will watch it again."
