It looks like a dvd, but the size of a vinyl record. Introduced in the late 70's, but didn't get big till late 80's, early 90's. Still didn't really catch on due to the price. If a movie is on laserdisc, I prefer buying that, rather than a dvd (just my preferance though). :)
