"Lincoln" is based on the book by Gore Vidal. Sam Waterston is excellent in his portrayal of Abraham Lincoln. There are many incidents included in this story that are not very familiar to the history of Lincoln, but add greatly to the humanity of the man. Mary Tyler Moore is also excellent in her portrayal of Mary Todd Lincoln. Some of the stories of her eccentricities are familiar: buying 3 dozen pairs of gloves at a time, shopping often for fine clothes and spending more than she was allowed. After the death of their son, Willy, Mrs. Lincoln battled depression and her first-hand experiences on the battlefields contributed to worsening of her emotional health. The movie gives great insight into what both Lincolns bore emotionally. This Civil War sesquicentennial year is a great time to view this film.

"The Colt" is the story of a colt born to a Union soldier's mare and how it became a mascot for the group of soldiers that thought it brought them good luck.

"Lincoln, when first produced was nomiated for 6 emmy awards and I could see why, Sam Waterford was great, as was Mary tyler Moore, The film followshis life and struggles and gives us an insight as to th character of the man and his struggless, Well acted, written this film moved me. It is a that eached me on a emotional level. The Colt is a very nice story too and also well done and there was something about a new colt in the middle of the Civil war and the Soliders attachment to it that moved me also, I truly enjoyed these filmsGore Vidal's Lincoln/The Colt"
