Great classic suspense-thriller. Hospital equipment, a little out dated but premise is not. Body parts, saved and stored for re-sale after being acquired by improper death of patients in local hospital. An excellent movie.

DESERVED A LITTLE BETTER
MICHAEL TAYLOR | RICHMOND, VA USA | 07/14/2003
(2 out of 5 stars)

"THE SAME OL PLOTS WIT THE SAME OL THEMES. THIS ONE, HOWEVER, DESERVED MUCH BETTER THAN WHAT IT TURNED OUT TO BE. A BOY GETS BETRAYED BY HIS HOMEBOY IN A DRUG DEAL GONE WRONG AND ENDS UP IN JAIL THE NEXT 15 YEARS OF HIS LIFE, BUT WHEN HE IS FINALLY RELEASED, HE FINDS OUT THAT THE SAME MAN WHO BETRAYED HIM IS TRYING TO GIVE HIS BROTHER [I THINK IT WAS HIS BROTHER], A RECORD DEAL FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS. THE PLOT HAS SHADES OF ANOTHER GLENN PLUMMER MOVIE, ''SOUTH CENTRAL''. AND THE MOVIE DOESN'T REALLY DO A GOOD JOB OF TELLING WHAT THE DANGEROUS SIDE OF THE RAP BUSINESS IS LIKE. DESPITE THE FACT THAT THIS MOVIE HAS A FEW GOOD ACTORS IN IT [MOST NOTABLY GLENN PLUMMER], THIS MOVIE IS ALMOST HOPELESS AS IT IS BOUGHT DOWN BY VERY CHEAP FILMAKING, BAD WRITING, AND PLENTY OF MEDIOCRE RAP SONGS. I'MA TELL YA RIGHT NOW, IF YOU'RE RENTING OR BUYING THIS MOVIE TO SEE ICE-T, BE WARNED, ICE DOESN'T SHOW UP UNTIL THE MOVIE'S HALF-WAY OVER AND HE GETS KILLED SHORTLY THEREAFTER. IT'S A SHAME A TALENTED ACTOR LIKE GLENN PLUMMER IS STUCK DOING MOVIES LIKE THIS. FOR A MUCH BETTER LOOK ON THE DANGEROUS SIDE OF THE HIP HOP BUSINESS, RENT OR BUY ''PLAY'D''. ESCAPES A ONE STAR RATING ONLY BECAUSE IT IS MUCH BETTER THAN ''STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON''."

"The movie features has a realistic story of the rough and tumble rap industry, with strong moral overtones. In addition to the outstanding rap tracks, it has terrific adult contemporary tunes. Although the filming is a little shoddy, it seems appropriate for the story and the very real life characters. Excellently done with a surprise ending!"
