This was one of those rare finds for me. Not expecting too much, I was blown away. This collection of home movies reveals a man with a sheer love for what became known as "Outlaw Country". There are some truly hilarious moments, like best-friend Johnny Cash showing Jack how to properly get in and out of his new low-rider Corvette. Or Johnny riding along his farm, naming off all his crops. You can probably guess what the last, out-of-the-way crop is...

This DVD was somewhat of a "perfect storm" for me, guiding me from one former hero to the next. Porter Waggoner, George Jones, John Prine, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, Bono and plenty of Johnny Cash. Each presented in a "don't worry, no one will ever see this" home movie fashion.

If I HAD to pick one bad thing about this DVD, it's that Townes Van Zandt's coverage was limited to a single still shot. But that was more than made up for by watching the DVD extras.

One last thing, I received my copy brand new, still shrink-wrapped. Thanks, fellow SwapaDVD member!

A journey through the history of Clementvision

"Shakespeare Was a Big George Jones Fan: Cowboy Jack Clement's Home Movies

I had the opportunity to record at Clementvision studios @'89 or so with Chance Martin who was executive producer of the old Johnny Cash show on ABC. Chance appears on this DVD as the voice of Shakespeare. Engineer David Ferguson whom i worked with on those sessions also appears.
This DVD brought back a lot of memories and gives a good insight behind the scenes with some of Nashvilles heaviest hitters. Also on this DVD is a rare glimpse into a side of Johnny Cash that was seldom scene by the general public. It is said that "Cowboy" was able to bring out the funny and whimsical side of Johnny that a lot of people didn't get to see. This is a MUST for any real Johnny Cash fans."

"A priceless DVD. Many of the artists have since passed away, the great Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, as you have never seen him before, the late Cowboy Jack himself. A lovely duet by Dolly Parton and the late Porter Wagoner, so much wonderful content.
A must for country fans to buy."
