This was a very interesting, very real-life movie about a dysfunctional family. Excellent acting, especially the little girl. I think Charlize Theron is one of the best female actors of our century.

It’s all about family and this family is really messed up! I could easily imagine poor young Tara falling in with a bad bunch of teens and turning into a junkie or a prostitute! But no, she is luckily smarter than that.
Her grandfather (Dennis Hopper) is a real taskmaster with a very mean streak! Her mom (Charlize Theron) is weak and not able to perform as a mother should, at least not in the beginning. Her only redeeming, strong, and wonderful relative is her uncle James (Nick Stahl) who takes her on a road trip away from the heartbreaking situation they encounter when social services takes the young girl. Evidently no good seems to come from foster homes (not in the movies anyhow). Woody Harrelson has a small part and I’d love to see more of him but ineffective role as James friend who puts them up (down in his basement). One of the producers of Sleepwalking is Theron, making this film a warm enveloping evening’s entertainment well worth watching!

My family loved this movie! It was very different, filmed in Canada *COLD WINTER SETTING*
