Interesting alternate reality movie.

We get to see a world similar in many respects to "the Incredibles" where normal people have turned against the super hero protectors. We also get to see an interesting take on how having people with super powers could have affected history.

I like the use of timeline, seeing both present day as well as history unfold. Our main hero is a vigilante and is a mix of The Punisher and Nightwing.

This is based off of some dark and gritty comic books, so it is defiantly one to put the kids to bed before starting it.

The cinematography is great, and the CGI is still state of the art. Acting really pulls this movie together, though some of the characters feel a little flat. Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach really steals the show, but Carla Gugino always has a presence in a film that is hard to overshadow, she has yet to be in a film that I don't like (Sin City, and Race to Witch Mountain are among my favorites now)

Overall this is a good superhero movie, but it is a lot darker than even the new Batman series so don't expect our heroes or villains to go easy on anyone ...

Starts out with the murder of a superhero. Superheros come out of retirement to investigate. An alternative universe where Nixon is a popular four term president. Good acting and well paced. What's rare about this movie is it's unpredictable...a refreshing change from the "formula" films cranked out by Hollywood. It's dark, gritty, more than a bit strange...I like it !
