You can, however, offer it in the DVD Bazaar forum.  [Communities->Forums->DVD Bazaar]

This is more effective if the DVD is wishlisted or has 0 copies available in the system.

If there are already copies available in the system, then it might best be used as a sweetener like "Free disk-only copy of X with any request off my shelf".

See Swap a DVD Forums: Rules for Swapping in the Bazaar- DVD Bazaar for the general rules for swapping in the Bazaar.

When I go to search->advanced search and enter "4k" as the search string for "title",  I get a result set of 853 such titles.

You can check who the sender would be right after you make a request and cancel if it is one of those people.  This means you would also have to forgo the use of autorequest on your wishlist, and you would need to wait until that person no longer had that title on their shelf until you placed another request for it (or until it became available throgh a deal in the Bazaar)

I think the lack of a UPC is because it was a bonus disk in some Season 7 sets rather than an individually sold product.

Hi Ktai,

If you go to Community->Forums->DVD Bazaar you will find no shortage of members with too many credits who are selling them for $3 each.

The site also sells credits through the Kiosk for $3.79 - but in general it will be easier to use a credit card than the money already in your account.

Cheers, -bret

Kevin: "Isn't the Bazaar something that was set up exactly for this kind of situation (wanting to offer something for a discount)?"

Yes, and I believe that when David said "I want to make a thread", he meant in the Bazaar.  The question isn't how to offer a discount, it is how to actually implement it in a convenient way.  Having someone request it for full credits and then giving them the discount after they receive it has a few issues, like the requestor has to have the full price up front, and the sender has to remember about the discount.  Having the requestor gift the credits has issues if the item gets lost in the mail - and doesn't generate a fee for the site.  Using a substitute item has been the most trouble-free method I've come up with.  I'm curious about  the details on what errors/problems you think it might cause.

An approach I sometimes take is to post something that is worth the discounted number of credits but has multiple copies posted and ask the requestor to order that off my shelf and I will send them the item I'm offering instead.  As long as we both agree that is what will be done, it has worked fine.  I think the main principle is that something should be formally requested through the site to make a record of the transaction and provide the site it's small fee to help it continue operations.

Hi Tomm,

Is this a single DVD?  If so, you may only request 1 credit for it per the site rules.

Are you asking about specific member's wish lists, or the aggregate list of all wish-ed for DVDs for all members?

At the indivicual level, members have control over whether their wishlist is visble to other members or not.  If the member has a public profile in the system (they show up under Community->Member Directory), you can click on the nickname and if their wish list is public, it will show the number of items on it.  You can click on the number to see the list.

Also, here in the forums, if a member has made a posting and has a public wishlist, there will be a "Wish List" button just under their name in the post - like in yours (above) but not in mine.

As for the aggregate wish list, if you look at your DVD shelf and sort by "posted" "descending",  it will list DVDs you've received, and the ones that are on other member's wish lists will have a red "W"  just to the left of the start ratings.  A red "W" with a small "a" means that it is not only on a wishlist, but on autorequest.  For DVDs you have acquired outside of the swap site, you can look them up; the site will tell you how many wishers there are (or how many copies are already posted).

If you finished watching a wishlisted dvd and are hoping to post multiple dvds to the same person, well, you can post it and then look at the persons wishlist if it is public to see if you have anything else on it - but the odds of that working out are low.

You might instead make use of the Wishlist Multiples thread in the Bazaar forum, which is intended to help members save postage by grouping requests. The disadvantage here is that only a small percentage of members participate in the bazaar and it may well be that none of them are interested in your titles.

I don't think so.  My understanding is that the site's contract with whoever they get their catalog information from does not allow them to augment it.  However, if you scroll down to the bottom of any site page, you will find a "contact us" link you can use to ask directly.
