The Last Hoorah!
James W. Taylor | North Augusta, SC United States | 11/19/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"On a sad note, Eddie Guerrero passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2005. This review will mark his last pay per view match. This is also the last ppv dvd cover he is on. I will miss Eddie. My prayers go out to his family and friends. He was one of the great ones not only in the ring but in life. Eddie is in Heaven with his Lord & Saviour, Jesus Christ now. His testimony & legacy here on earth will live on & continue to affect & touch many lives.

6 Person Tag Team Match
MNM vs L.O.D. & Christy Hemme 7/10- a good match to kick off the show. these 2 teams work well together. reminds me of old school tag team wrestling. even the women perform well. Melina's screaming is annoying but Christy has shown improvement in the ring.

Eddie Guerrero wishes Batista good luck in the dresing room.

Simon Dean vs Bobby Lashley(the loser has to eat 20 double cheeseburgers) 4/10- not a very good match. Lashley's debut is pitiful as he goofs his finishing manuever. Dean can't carry the big oaf well. WWE's plans to make Lashley into a black Brock Lesnar is failing.

Smackdown's newest guy, Steve Romero, interviews JBL & Jillian Hall. they are interupted by Rey Mysterio.

United States Championship
Fatal Four Way
Chris Benoit vs Booker T(w/ Sharmell) vs Orlando Jordan vs Christian 9/10- the best match of the night. even Jordan is made to look good. fast paced action that goes back & forth. this one steals the show.

funny backstage segment: Simon Dean & Bobby Lashley.

Mr. Kennedy vs Hardcore Holly 3.5/10- the worst match of the night. Kennedy is trying to be a cross between The Rock & The Road Dogg in personality. He is an "A" #1 dork! these 2 don't work well together. BORING!

Sharmell confronts Booker T & they are interrupted by Mr. Kennedy backstage.

John Bradshaw Layfield(w/ Jillian Hall) vs Rey Mysterio 8.5/10- David vs Goliath! these 2 put on a good match. a classic big guy vs little guy. they work well together in the ring.

Handicap Casket Match
Ortons vs Undertaker 8/10- a better match than i anticipated. Cowboy Bob does well for an old man. back forth action makes it intense at times. a great ending.

WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Nunzio(w/ Vito) vs Juventud(w/ Super Crazy) 8/10- a very good matchup of little guys. these 2 go all out. WWE needs to rebuild the cruiserweights back up. match should have been given more time.

World Heavyweight Championship
Batista vs Eddie Guerrero 8/10- Eddie carries Batista well in this one. back & forth action that carries a lot of sentimentality now that Eddie is gone. i watched this match that night after Eddie passed away. Guerrero is tempted to cheat several times during the match but restrains himself. great ending to the match & in the aftermath. October 9 was Eddie's birthday.

some good extras with Simon Dean at a fast food drive thru on his little scooter. Teddy long confronts Eric Bischoff backstage.

EDDIE GUERRERO
OCTOBER 9,1967-NOVEMBER 13,2005
see you in Heaven one day, Eddie!"
No Mercy 2005

"The 2005 edition of No Mercy came to us from the Toyota Centre in Houston Texas. This was a fairly good event which went on to be Eddie Guerrero's last ever PPV.

Match 1- 6 Person Tag Team Match- L.O.D. and Christy Hemme vs MNM
This was not the fast paced and exiting match that most openers should be. This match is very slow paced and it is very boring. I think that bringing back L.O.D. (with Heidenreich instead of Hawk) was a bad idea. Animal is too old and slow to be wrestling these days and Heidenreich has never been exciting to watch. Anyways, this match is pretty slow and boring until Christy hits the Doomsday devise on Melina. That was cool. Other than that this match is pretty lame. I'll pass this match because of the ending. 5/10

Match 2- Bobby Lashley vs Simon Dean
This is your typical squash match. The hamburger stipulation makes this match worth watching. This is Lashley's PPV debut and he stuffs up what would've been the only cool spot in this match. I'll give this match a couple of extra marks because of the stipulation. 3/10

Match 3- Fatal Four Way Match for United States Championship- Chris Benoit vs Booker T vs Christian vs Orlando Jordan
This is a physical, fast paced match. I like to call this match the opposite to a spot fest. It is 10 minutes of solid wrestling, nothing special, just solid wrestling. That is not a bad thing. Booker T is in his home town and puts on a good performance along with Benoit and Christian (this was Christian's last PPV match). 8/10

Match 4- Mr. Keneddy vs Hardcore Holly
This is Kennedy's PPV debut. Both men controlled this matchup at certain stages. I found that it was quite boring when Kennedy was in control and the match was interesting when Holly was in control. That is probably an experience thing. However, I liked this match and thought that the ending lived up to the name of No Mercy. 6/10

Match 5- JBL vs Rey Mysterio
This is a very good big man vs little man match. It has a very fast pace and is very entertaining. These guys worked really well together. If you combine Mysterio's speed and charisma and JBL's pure strength, you get a very exciting matchup. 8.5/10

Match 6- First Ever Handicap Casket Match- The Undertaker vs Randy Orton and "Cowboy Bob Orton
This match was the best match of the night in my opinion. Most matches with the no disqualification rule tend to be brawls. This match had a great mix of wrestling and usage of weapons. Undertaker and Randy Orton fought it out for most of the match, with Bob coming up with a couple of nice moves, including a suplex from the top ropes. The aftermath was exciting and it set up their next encounter inside Hell in a Cell, however I thought that WWE could've come up with something more original than the burning casket, because that has already happened at the Royal Rumble a few years back. 9.5/10

Match 7- Cruiserweight Championship- Nunzio vs Juventud
This is a fairly descent Cruiserweight match. There are some nice wrestling moves and SOME high risk moves. I would've liked this match much more if there were some more high risk moves. 6/10

Match 8- World Heavyweight Championship- Batista vs Eddie Guerrero
This was a good back and forth type match. The purpose of this match was to tell the story of how Eddie was the new and improved Eddie Guerrero. When I was watching this live, I had no idea who would win. I didn't like the fact that it ended after a spinebuster. I thought that it should've been finished with the Batista Bomb. Other than that, this was a strong main event that was very intriguing. I liked the aftermath when they shook hands. 8.5/10

Overall No Mercy is a good PPV that has a few great matches, a couple OK matches and a couple pretty bad matches. I recommend people buy this so they can see Eddie's last PPV match, the First Ever handicap casket match and the thrilling Mysterio/JBL match. Based on the marks I gave the matches this PPV gets 56/80. However, because of the fact there were some great matches, I will give it a bonus 16/20 marks. This means it earns 72/100 which means it was a good PPV."
The power isnt really Back

"WWE has it's moments, but I don't know how this DVD is getting so many poistive reviews. The only match that really entertained me was the Casket match, but WWE is starting to come to the point to do the same "shocking" thing as they did before. maybe you little kiddies who've only been watching for a couple years dont know this, but at Royal Rumble 1998, Kane did the exact same thing to the Undertaker that Orton did to him here. Lock Taker in a casket, pound a hole in it, pour gas in it, and set it on fire. The exact same thing at rumble 98, only instead of the Ortons setting Takers casket on fire, it was Kane and Paul Bearer. God, WWE is running out of storylines! What luzers! The only other good part aboutthe show was Juventud Gurrera winning the cruiserweigh title, because Juvi is an awesome wrestler."
Started off slow, but picked up by the 3rd match

"This wasn't the best No Mercy, but it was really good.

1.6 Man Tag Team Match
LOD and Christy Hemme vs. MNM
This was an OK match, but it wasn't good for an opener. It was too slow. Watchable, but you won't be watching it more than once.6 out of 10.

2.Simon Dean vs. Lashley(Loser must eat 20 double cheeseburgers)
This was an incredibly bad match. This is something that you would find on Velocity. Incredibly short as well. I guess I'll add a point because seeing Dean eating 20 double cheeseburgers is pretty funny.3 out of 10.

3.Fatal Four Way Match
Chris Benoit vs. Christian vs. Booker T vs. Orlando Jordan(WWE US Championship)
This was a really good match. No crazy moves, just straight up wrestling. There were good use of submissions in this one, along with everybody getting into the fight instead of having 2 people go at it for a long time.9 out of 10.

4.Mr. Kennedy vs. Hardcore Holly
This was a good, solid match. Mr. Kennedy is a good wrestler and so is Hardcore, so on paper this matchup looked pretty good, and it was.7 out of 10.

5.JBL vs. Rey Mysterio
This was a really good match. There were some really impressive moves such as a bulldog to the outside from the apron and I really liked the way the match ended.9 out of 10.

6.Handicap Casket Match
The Undertaker vs. Cowboy Bob Orton and Randy Orton
This was a very good match. You'd think that the addition of Bob Orton it would be bad, but it actually helped. This was the best casket match I have seen(I've yet to see the Royal Rumble 1998 casket match but I heard that it was really good.) Speaking of that match, they used the same "fire" storyline after the match was over. This match just barely earns a perfect score.10 out of 10.

7.Juventud vs. Nunzio(WWE Cruiserweight Championship)
This was a good Cruiserweight title match. Had a few good high-flying moves, but not too many. All I can say is that it was good.7 out of 10.

8.Eddie Guerrero(R.I.P.) vs. Batista(World Heavyweight Championship)
This was Eddie Guerrero's last PPV match and last really good match.Eddie was a much better opponent for Batista than JBL because he's quicker. The middle of this match was slow, with Eddie trying to hurt Batista's back. But the last few minutes were really good. I wasn't expecting the ending.8 out of 10."
