(3 out of 5 stars)
"The 4 movies are Ellery Queen in The Mandarin Mystery; Sherlock Holmes in The Triumph of Sherlock Holmes; Ray Milland in Bulldog Drummond Escapes; and Peter Lore in Mr. Moto's Last Warning. As long as you aren't affraid of black and white movies, all but the Sherlock Holmes moive are fun. The picture on the cover has Tim Hutton, who played Ellery Queen in color TV shows. This isn't Tim Hutton.
These movies give the viewers a look back in time. They show how movies were made, frequently showing actors who later became stars (such as Ian Fleming, author of the James Bond series of books). They also demonstrate the societal fears of the time (such as Japan's and Germany's rising power in the 1930's).
And hey, for the price you're paying, well worth the payoff of some 4+ hours of viewing."
