Movie Reviews

Great Mexican comming of age story!
Betito Medel | Hayward | 12/20/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I didn't have hopes for this movie being good. I was pleasantly surprised. Great story, great acting. A fun and not depressing comming of age story for a handsome 16 year old boy in Mexico City. He gets a surprise move in for what he thinks is a 11 year old girl cousin, she has grown up to be a hot hot hot older woman. He can't stop dreaming about her..she is dumped on by her neglectfull boyfriend..He lets his dreams be know to her...she eventually gives in to his strong boyish drive to be with an older woman...Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Que cosita linda Mama."
This film help break the barrier for Mexican cinema

"Came across this film just the other night and thought I give this one a try. "Dreaming of you," was humorous. The director, Marisa Sistach, takes a good story by Jose Buil and Alfonso Reyes and keeps the pace moving, while getting solid performances out of the talented cast.

Toto is very much like any other boy in the midst of puberty: obsessed with sex If not spying on a neighborhood girl as she undresses, the boy busies himself with porno magazines and fantasies. So, when his beautiful older cousin begins staying in a room in his home, all he can think of is "getting it on" with her. Might his wish come true, or is he to remain nothing more than a child in this Siren's eyes? Toto and Quique dream their life away by biking around their neighborhood and dream of discovering something new. But Toto didn't count on the unexpected visit of his cousin Azucena with whom he would have an unforgettable experience his sexual initiation.

I enjoyed the movie a lot and think most people who are comfortable with subtitled foreign movies will like it too. I wish the production qualities were a bit higher but given the circumstances of making the film, I find it difficult to be too hard on it. This a great film and I would recommend it to those who love foreign films and especially to those who had or is in to this affair, you know who you are. Happy viewing.
