Movie Reviews

Just great music
04/18/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"One can only assume that Mostly Autumn have not reached the ears of many in America yet. I for one had never heard of this band until an English friend of mine emailed me to tell me that he had just brought "Passenger" by Mostly Autumn, and he had not stopped playing it all week. Without further ado, I signed on to Amazon to check out this band. Much to my suprise, there were no reviews for any of their albums or DVD's. Therefore, without other reviewers valuable contents I splurged on the cheapest DVD available. The next chapter.
All I can say is that I am so glad I did. I just love the music. I am not a connoisseur (or a good speller) so I can't say that the sound quality is outstanding, and I can't say that the camera angles are sheer genius. All I can say is buy this DVD. The music is great.
How to describe the music - well there is a conundrum - the best way to describe it is "different" It ranges from a sort of Celtic rock to just rock. I hate to compare bands as each band, and specifically Mostly Autumn are all different, but to try to help others (who have definately helped me in their reviews) I would sum it up in saying if you like...........Pink Floyd, Camel, Horslips, Earth and Fire (not Earth WIND and Fire), Karnataka, Clannad, Focus, and/or Caravan, then I am fairly certain you will like Mostly Autumn.
It is always exciting to hear a new band (even though they have been around the UK for many years)and even better when they are so good you can watch/listen to this DVD 4 or 5 times in the first few days of receiving it.
They are definately worth the 5 stars, shame I can't give them 6 stars. Be warned though - you will end up spending more money buying other Mostly Autumn "stuff""
