More Bette on Blu. In this one, Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin play two sets of twins who were mismatched at birth. Now, one set runs a huge corporation (called Moramax, a play on the name of the independent movie studio that Disney would absorb five years later) that’s going to sell off a tiny furniture company in Jupiter Hollow, West Virginia, the town where they were born. The other set of twins still resides in Jupiter Hollow, and they go to New York City to try to stop the sale. Of course, neither set of twins knows about the other, and that’s where the pseudo-hilarity comes in. Film is sporadically funny, and Midler shows her versatility nicely, but it never rises above sitcom level. The Blu-ray I watched had some major audio/video sync issues, with the dialogue ending before the actors’ lips stopped moving. All in all, BIG BUSINESS is worth a watch, but it’s not a keeper.
