"Champion Jack Dupree performs at Sound Track Studios and Radhuskroen in Copenhagen, Denmark and at his home in Hannover, Germany . Recorded in 1986 with the Kenn Lending Blues Band, featuring Kenn Lending, Svenni Svafnisson, Kjeld Lauritsen, Frank Larsen and Jorgen Lang also featuring Louisiana Red.
Directed by Bent Zimmermann Nielsen and Lb Skovmand
This colorful tape was recorded in early 1986 at various locations in Europe. Dupree has lived there for many years where he has enjoyed great freedom and success.
This tape finds him in a variety of locations - both a nightclub and a recording studio in Coppenhagen and his home in Hanover. There are ample doses of his wonderful barrelhouse piano style, but we also get to see the great emotional range of this unique blues artist.

"16138 · Champion Jack Dupree
Jack Dupree was born in New Orleans but moved to Europe when his parents were killed by the Ku Klux Klan. His style of singing is New Orleans typical and he plays the piano in a very personal style. He got his name Champion from his boxing career where he competed in the World Light-weight Championship. He lost - luckily for us - and was able to devote himself 100% to the blues. Jack Dupree was a gentleman and a unique blues artist. These recordings were made in early 1986 on various locations in Europe."
