For Thinking Parents Only
Leigh Dragoon | USA | 03/26/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"For parents that aren't horrified by alternate belief systems, Brace Face is a wonderful show -- what drew me most to it is the fact that Sharon Spitz, the main character, is a smart, opinionated girl and is also vegan. She stands by her beliefs, but is also a very flawed character who can stand to learn a thing or two most of the time. Her mother and father are amicably separated, her father being a hard-core, on the road rocker, and her mother an extremely successful therapist who works out of their house. I found a lot of the show's story lines and attitudes to be very faithful to what kids that age find important, and it brought back a lot of memories. I would have no problem whatsoever showing this program to children, especially since each episode raises a lot of interesting discussion points afterward. My only minor quibble with the show is the quality of the animation, which is often lacking. But it is, after all, a TV show. I think it's a shame that American children's animation is so gutless and pandering -- it's nice to see that at least Canadian kids get to watch something they can sink their teeth into."
One of the most Underrated shows of our day

"Braceface is a unique series featuring real-life situations and problems with usually good and sometimes funny outcomes. Very entertaining for anyone of any age, be it teenagers with similar problems as featured in the show or adults who wish to revist those awkward times. This cartoon should go down as one of the best animated series of the decade."

"My daughteris a 13 yr old girl and i find "braceface" is an interesting show. It relates to real life experiences and sometimes helps her find a solution to some "problems" she may have as a teenager also. i think quite a few episodes are suitible for children because it is funny and witty, but i have to admit that some episodes are aimed for teenagers. I find this show interesting because it deals wiht real life situations as i said before, i think that this show should continue to go on and should continue to give my daughter advice."
