I really enjoyed reading Monica Ali's novel on which this beautiful, quiet film is based and while I enjoyed the richer experience of all the back stories in the novel more than the film this movie offers great insight into the Bengali immigrant experience in London. The acting is nuanced and the cinematography is lush.

"This is a film about life, about family, and about love. If you enjoy films like this, then you will absolutely love "Brick Lane". I have no idea why the rest of the world didn't fall in love with it, but trust me when I say that it is definitely worth adding to your home collection."
