Mr G.

SUMMARY: An atypical Western (or at least a tale set in the old West) that's not for the faint of heart. Some would call it disturbing. 3+ stars.

Similar movies might be "Sweetwater" or "The Proposition" (both are modern-ish violent Westerns) or the series "Deadwood."

But if you want grit and evil and more, check it out. It was pretty engrossing overall, though some scenes were slow. It takes a long time for some of the pieces to fall in place. I'll let you decide if it's worth the oft-depressing ride (I thought it was, mostly).

TRIGGER STUFF: a lot of it, though some of it happens off-screen. Tender-hearted, sensitive, or easily offended viewers: you've now been warned.

Actor Guy Pearce plays a mysterious preacher. Actresses Dakota Fanning and Emilia Jones do a great job. There are also 2 characters in lesser roles whom you may recognize from 'Game of Thrones'.
