Beyond words...

"While I have only seen the dvd, as opposed to listening to the cd, I can't imagine the music only version being any less awe inspiring. Carlinhos proves himself to be on par with Caetano, Gil, Dorival and the rest of the great Bahian sonqwriters. His spiritual message, hyper-axe, one world funk and super compositions guarantee that a good time is had by all. The quality of the horn section arrangements, the back up vocals, and general musicianship is SCARY!! Although Olodum, Ara Ketu, Banda Mel and other bahian bands all have great batucadas, the percussionists who surround probably the worlds greatest, have no peer. This is the real deal.

I am amazed at the quality of the brazilian dvds which I have recently acquired. The newest Jorge Vercilo, Cidade Negra and Carlinhos Brown dvds prove that although the past generation of stars may be hard to eclipse, the future of MPB is in more than capable hands. Marvel at the differences in style among the aforementioned artists coupled with the similarity in top quality production, songwriting, arranging, and musicianship."
God came to town, and had the best band in the universe!

"This performance is nothing short of a religious experience. For the band as well as the audience. I have been a CB fan since the first time I heard him on Bill Laswell's Bahia Black and S. Mendes' Brasiliero in 1992. A classical song writer in the vein of gold that has brought us the Jobims, Gilbertos and Nascimento. This performance is as tight as it gets. The band worships CB and works like a machine. Only a person with rigor mortis is able to hold still listening/watching the performance. I stand in awe! If you are a fan of Brazilian music you owe it to yourself to buy this and watch it again and again."
Peerless!...
