Carter Beauford Shows what he's made of

"Ok When i first started playing the Drums, I was HUGE DMB fan, and Thought Carter Beauford was an Incredible Drummer,So i went out and got his Video. UTTAD is kinda of an Instructional Video, But isn't, Carter will break down some of DMB's More Popular songs, Like #41,and he will demonstrate the Licks and so on,but there is actually no explanation on Figuring out and counting the different Time Signatures he uses. He does talk about his history a bit with like maybe two different old school Video footage of a Fusion group he was in called "Secrets", and he does go over a lick called the "Timpani Crossover". He talks about his set up, His odd drumming ability (he plays open handed but can also play the traditional "cross over" way leading with his right hand.)as far as going In-depth about certain things he does very little,Which Most likely means it isn't intended for Beginners. He does play alot of DMB's songs to the CD track itself, and that's when your Jaw Drops and you are left saying "Wow". For some good Demonstrations on what he plays in some of the Songs this is a great video, As far as actually learning how to figure out time Sig's and so on ,this wouldn't be the video. But don't get me wrong,Now that i have progressed as a drummer and learned all that stuff myself, this Video Makes Perfect sense,But i wouldn't tell the Beginners NOT to buy it, cause you should,to get ideas in your own playing, and even Hype you up before a rehearsal. Here is a "Track" breakdown on the songs he actually plays through all the way with the CD.Video 1-#41,Say GoodBye,Trippin Billies.
Video #2-Ants Marching,Sattelite, and Lie In Our Graves. Plus the whole footage of a gig they did at President Clintons Inauguration. He does many other licks from other songs in the video. I suggest Getting it. I wish he would Release a whole new Video of him Doing Nothing but DMB's Stuff from "Before these Crowded Streets" all the way to the present. Now that would rock."

"Carter Beauford is definetly a great drummer. This video will be over your head if you are not an experienced drummer (not recommended for a beginner). He demonstrates an open hand technique and his setup is different than the generic set up most people use, so at first it may be a little confusing. He actually does a great job explaining what he is doing and slows it down for demonstrations. I have a few other videos of "famous" drummers who just show off and can't explain anything. Carter Beauford does show off his talent, but he also does a great job explaining what he is doing."
Amazing

"Carter Beauford has been named one of the Top 25 Drummers of All Time and this video shows why. It's not an instructional video, rather it is a showcase into the skills of this master. This video will blow your mind. I show it to anybody who is interested (and most people are, especially after they sit down at my drum kit and have a few whacks at it) and I have yet to see anyone not stunned by the ability of Carter. Very enjoyable to watch, and the experienced drummer can pick up some new ideas. The novice drummer may be overwhelmed, but on the other hand it may inspire him/her to greatness!"
