Movie Reviews

Good concert, except...
Renfield | Edmonton, Canada | 04/10/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"CO%CA are an amazing band. They released LIVE AT THE STARLAND BALLROOM in 2005, which is an amazing concert. They released another DVD a year after called THE LAST SUPPER: LIVE AT THE HAMMERSTEIN BALLROOM, which is their best concert, and it makes up for my not being able to go to their December show in 2006 (:-().

However, as much as I am honored to rave about the concert, I'll go over the pros and cons:

PROS:
-Affordable price
-Includes 3 videos from the singles off the new(est) album
-Amazing audio and picture quality of the concert makes you feel like you're at the concert
-Light show is SPECTACULAR
-Nice to see a concert of their Good Apollo tour

CONS:
-Firstly, if it's a concert supporting GAIBS4V1FFTTEOM, why are only 4 songs pefrormed off of it? Key tracks like "Mother May I" or "Crossing the Frame" are not pefrormed. Theys till peform their other signature tracks.
-The editing! HORRIBLE! If COLUMBIA edits the next DVD, I'm NOT buying it. They did a spectacular job for the other concert, why not for this one?
-Why is the swearing bleeped out?
-The back of the DVD says something about there being an interview with Claudio Sanchez. Well, if the 1 minute, 30-second discussion with the fans and the 15-second reponse from Claudio is considered an "interview", well then, there ya go.

So this is not a bad buy at all, I liked the concert (and I WILL get tickets for their Edmonton show supporting their album coming out in the fall), and worth buying if you're a Coheed fan like me."

"This is Co & Ca live at their best. Wonderful performance (so that it seems short), worth every penny. The light show is great, and the interviews with fans, and Claudio (the interview with Claudio is quite short, maybe two minutes together, and is split, showing a bit after every couple songs) are a great addition. The music videos are also a nice bonus (Welcome Home, The Suffering, Ten Speed). The only drawback is that only a few songs of the new album appear (Ten Speed, Wake Up, The Suffering, Welcome Home, The Final Cut). None of the songs are edited (for example, Welcome Home still says the F-word) yet in the behind the scene footage or when Claudio is talking to the audience, when ever a profanity is uttered it is edited out with a *beep*. Pointless, but it really does not damage the quality of the DVD. It would have been nice to have a bonus cd with the concert dvd. Yeah, the concert is that good. The DVD is well worth the money, and for any Coheed & Cambria fan, buy this. You'll love it."
A Little Too Soon After Live At The Starland Ballroom???
Matt Warren | Columbia, SC | 11/02/2006

"Well, it seems that with the release of Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV Volume One: From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness, Coheed and Cambria have set their sights on the Hammerstein Ballroom for what is sure to be their greatest recorded performance to date. Although, as much as I am honored to parade Co&Ca as my all-time favorite band, there are a few gripes I have with this dvd. First, if it's a live dvd for the release of Good Apollo, then why are there only four tracks from the album presented live. Songs like Apollo 1: The Writing Writer or even Crossing The Frame are nowhere to be seen however, at least they maintain their anthemic songs like IKSSE:3 and Delerium Trigger, but with being off the heels of the Starland Ballroom dvd and the latest cd release, it would have been nice to see a more ecletic grouping of songs. The dvd packagae also states that an interview with Claudio is on the dvd, well if they consider the all of a minute and a half discussion with the fans and a 20 second response from Claudio as an "interview" then I guess you got it. There is also no real "behind the scenes footage" only but a few short minutes of warm-up and that's about it. Having 3 videos from Good Apollo was a nice addition, but their definetly could have been more. The biggest overall gripe is the editing of the dvd. I'm pretty sure that Equal Vision Records is proud to stand by Coheed and Cambria in any venture they take but, to have Columbia Records edit the few curse words from Josh at the beginning and Claudio's few expletives during the set is just plain stupid. Overall, the actual performance is amazing, and the improv at the end of The Final Cut is one of the best I have ever heard. If your an avid Coheed and Cambria fan as I am, then this release is an absolute must have. Otherwise, sticking with just the cd/dvd combo of Live at The Starland Ballroom seems to be a little more bang for your buck."
Amazing

"if you like Coheed, even a little bit, you will love this DVD. All of their dvds and performances are amazing. This one has a lot of interviews with fans and with Claudio, which the other DVDs don't really have. If you saw the Co&Ca/A7X tour, this is the SAME show. Definitely recommended by a true fan."
