Movie ReviewsGreat DVD Melinda J. Allen | 05/01/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "I went to see one of Craig's live shows and laughed so hard my stomach hurt. Nothing is as good as seeing the show live, but the DVD is pretty close. He has tremendous energy and enthusisam and really connects with the audience. The interview that was included on the DVD was great too. The main thing you can say about Craig is that he's genuine. I think that's why so many people feel such a connection with him." Very enjoyable routine...good bonus features...good value Richardson | Sunny California USA | 04/01/2009 (4 out of 5 stars) "I paid about $12 for this....so that is about the price of a movie ticket these days. Most movies I spend that on stink...so before throwing this in the trash as another reviewer suggested..lets keep the price in mind. I enjoyed myself a great deal during his standup. I don't put him up with current greats like Brian Reagan, Robert Schimmel or even Christopher Titus and certainly not comedy gods like Carlin..but Ferguson is charming and funny and I will watch this from time to time. The bonus interview is very enlightening and the extra speech fun. This is a very good value for money folks. If you like standup...want a different perspective and certainly if you are a fan of Mr Ferguson...lighten up and enjoy!" Hilarious Bryan Zwicker | Boston, MA | 03/24/2009 (4 out of 5 stars) "I went to this comedy show live back in October and it was everything I remembered it to be. Craig is hilarious, and it is the full show with all the parts they cut out for the Comedy Central special. The only disappointment is they made me believe that the warm-up comedian that was at the original taping was also going to be on the DVD, but he wasn't. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a good laugh." Craig, we love you, but the c*** jokes have got to go G. Amis | USA | 04/10/2009 (4 out of 5 stars) "First, my husband and I have been huge fans of Craig since early 2006, when we discovered him by accident one night after Dave Letterman. We've watched him regularly, I'd say religiously ever since, and have seen him mature into a comedian and TV host who's the equal or better of Dave and Jay, and consistently better than Conan even on a string of so-so nights.
We consider him the wittiest, most original and funniest of the major networks' late-night comedians. He is in a true class by himself, and is also a class act on TV. Neither of us are what you would call prudish. We enjoy Craig's sexual-ambiguity and double-entendre TV routines immensely, and appreciate his interview style and definite winning way with the ladies. He's truly the only guy who can pull this stuff off so successfully, night after night. Our problem comes in with his standup routine. We've seen him once in person, and have purchased this DVD. I said that we're not prudish, but have to qualify that some when it comes to the standup. Yes, Craig's sex jokes, gay takeoffs, parties at Elton John's, twenty bucks down on Hollywood Boulevard...we love every bit of it. But when he comes to going on endlessly about the size of his penis during the standup routines, it goes over the top. He loses his class right there, on the spot, and becomes just another dirty standup guy for the duration of that part of his schtick. Craig, if you're reading, give this some thought. We know, you are your own man and do things your way, but take it from a couple who truly love you and wish you all the success an entertainer can have: Lose the big-d*** routine. No one will miss it. You're just too darn good to need that to get laughs." |
