Movie Reviews

Simple but very effective live dvd

"Man this band is great and this is a great release for fan but with some big flaws,

First the DVD/2CDs set comes in a very beautiful book-like casing, but it feels a bit overkill.
When you open it you get three "pages" each containing a disc.
There's stuff written everywhere but it's in Chinese so...
And also you get the set list, in english, on extra little sheet of paper

The first major problem with the packaging is, while really beautiful, the way the discs are packed in it. They are slid in the pages, not clicked and secured like all DVDs so they can't move and when you get them out you're almost certain to scracth them, which sucks a lot. A standard case would have protected them a lot better.

Second: the Live DVD itself.
The show is in 4:3 which isn't the best thing and the quality of the recording isn't that professional. There's no subtitles no extra whatsoever and there's pause (fade to black) moment between each songs, wierd.
BUT the show itself is awesome, the sounds is surprisingly great for a live show . They play every songs perfectly, it's amazing and the set list is killer.

Third: the 2 cds set. It's the live show in audio format plain and simple. The funny thing is that it sounds way better than their first three releases and you just might end up only listening to this compilation instead. The only thing that sucks is that they did not edit any of the speach toward the end of the show and since it's in chinese you'll end up forwardind through it.

But if you have a good ripping/editing tool on your PC, you can take care of that in no time ;)

Overall I'd give it 4.5/5 and not because there's no extra but beacause of the packaging.

This DVD/2CDs set is really for fans who can't get enough Chthonic and it gives you the best compilation you can dream of.

Horns High and Hail Taiwanese Symphonic Black Metal

Exceptional masterpiece in black metal

"CthoniC has a very unique style in black metal music. The powerful instruments as well as caring stories for oppressed people really make strong impressions in their music."
