"Review from 7 days 7 workouts dvd:
D's Hip-Hop Routines/Aerobics (2004 wansome com) - Devora Canario done choreographer & worked with Janet Jackson, tv commercials w/dancing, etc. Availabe in 2.0 or 5.1 Doby Digital, she teaches in a gym w/about 10 talented backup dancers, 2 of them guys. It's 55 min aerobics that teaches each move a little slowly at first & then repeats it many, many times normal speed before moving on the the next to build to one big routine. Since so many times before moving on, there should be no problem following. The moves are great & look good. There's another 35-min bonus teaching in quick 8-count in only normal speed of more complicated cool hip-hop moves w/jumping, etc. for people in great shape & can learn dance moves fast with 4 backup dancers. On par with many other dance instructional/fitness DVDs. Very good teacher & very nice sounding, I had fun. Great menu options. The only thing I didn't like was the basic beat music.

Ok, about this dvd.... they put extra graphics & windows to make it look mroe cool. Such as turning it into a letterbox with blue swirls where normally you'd see black. They also added shifting video smaller windows or double them every few min. It wasn't annoying, maybe even better, but no big deal either way. The only thing I really noticed is this dvd is 45 min. It has warmup & cool down, so I'm not sure where you lose the 10 min. The menu options were only for the chapters & the usual health tips.

This is the worst dance workout I've ever done

"I wish I could give this DVD negative stars, because it is terrible in every way imaginable.

First, and most importantly, they don't dance to the beat of the music! At least half the time, they are COMPLETELY off from the actual tempo. It's almost like they can't even hear the music, like it was put in after they filmed. If you don't have any rhythm, this may not bother you. But for those of us who have an innate sense of rhythm, it is maddening.

Second, the "music" is just a basic, repetitive sample with no words or melody or anything. I cannot believe that any dance club in NYC would play music that's this boring. It's completely unmotivating.

Third, the production quality is unbelievably cheap. Whenever the dancers jump, the camera wobbles! Also, you can totally see the production crew walking around in the background. Not cool.

Fourth, the routine is just blah. The "moves" are the kind of filler steps you use when transitioning between REAL dance moves. Stringing them together does not a routine make. And like another reviewer said, D repeats the steps WAY too much. I found myself making up other moves (to the beat) just to pass the time.

I did the MTV Grind workouts for years, and I loved the energy, the music, and the routines on those tapes. I was hoping to pick up some new moves from this DVD and get a great workout, but it was a total bust. I'm returning it TODAY!!

Perfect for beginners and Intermediate Levels...

"I do workout 3-5 days a week, but I think this is a good DVD for those who aren't in great shape, or who want an energetic workout that doesn't leave you tired (but you will be sore the next day if you haven't done some of these moves before).

I have a few other hip hop fitness DVD's, but this is the one I come back to over and over. Devora goes step by step for everything from arm and shoulder movements, chest movements, and even hip movements. She is easy to follow, and goes slow enough for you to catch everything.

The dance "routine" is interesting in that she shows you how to incorporate the steps into a hip hop dance. It took me a few times to get the hang of it, but after a few attempts it is fairly easy to follow.

I give this DVD a 5 star rating because it is easy to follow, gives a good overall workout, and is fun to do.

"This is a fun, motivating workout. It's not overly challenging, but it will get your heart rate up and you'll even sweat a little. Sure, I've done harder workouts than this, but this is at least fun. D - the instructor is motivating without being too fake or cheesy. She's cool and instructs well. She breaks down the moves slowly and then soon you go up to tempo. I like also to workout when I see more people doing the routine with me (8 backup dancers, motivates me enough!)It's a funky great routine that you can do many many times without getting sick of it. You can even learn some moves that could be done in a club like Bounce,drive,shake...."
