Movie Reviews

Ultimate space rock dynamics.
Ghost Writer | Somewhere | 02/26/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Finally we get to see what made Chrome stand outside all standard Rock and New Wave formats, and excel in their own timewarped space rock psychedelia. Just incredible to experience the music and visuals for Meet You In The Subway, and New Age - now nearly 30 years later! The best is to actually see the outtakes where Damon Edge bumps his head and starts laughing in the middle of all the serious weirdness. This connects the humanity of these musical spearheads. Helios Creed offers us a look into a Chrome tour sans Damon, and you can feel all the power of "Armageddon" pulsing through this somewhat bootleg style concert footage. Bonus footage from Helios and the Chrome timeline make this a must have. If you can get any Chrome music into your life you'll be blessed, and this DVD is just a taste of their genius."
Chrome & Helios Creed - 'Dual Forces' (MVD) Running time: 43

"Nice little Chrome / Helios Creed retrospect DVD. Features four 'original' Chrome videos from 1980-83, "New Age", "Meet You In The Subway" {maybe their most memorable}, "Danger Zone" and the unreleased "Firebomb". Also has three Helios videos - "Your Spaceman", the awesome "Sandbox Jungle" and "Rant". As well as some live footage from the 1998 Chrome reunion, where at this point of course Helios takes over on vocals. Last, anything but least some scenes of his most recent club tour from 2006. Almost forgot to mention the extras of humorous out-takes of a Chrome video shoot and band discography. True Chrome fans will love this DVD."
A nice Chrome/Helios Creed collection

"This is a pretty cool dvd and a must have for die hard Chrome fans like myself. The DVD mainly focuses on music videos. 4 Chrome videos and 4 Helios Creed videos. The videos for Chrome are New Age. A very psychadelic video with a bunch of colorful chromakey effects. Nice colors and over all fun video to watch. Maybe the best one on here. Firebomb. Porbably chrome's biggest hit. this one is very similar to new age where is has nice colors and cool imagry. Damon's apearence in this video is priceless. Another one of my favorite videos on Dual Forces. Meet You In The Subway is all in black and white and in negative for alot of the time. It has interesting swirly designs going across the screen. Very interesting video. Gotta love Damon and Helios's Clockwork Orange outfits. Danger Zone is my least favorite video on here since it shows industrial stock footage of people around the city working under the roads and cutting down trees and some film which has signs of a girl reciving bad luck after she runs under a ladder. Damnon and Helios are not in this video at all which is probably why it is my least favorite. Lastly we get a live clip of Chrome playing Armageddon in Cleveland. Although this is a good performance the video quality is lacking. It's bootleg style and is shot with only one camera and the video is strobed the whole time. I would have liked a profesional multi camera video of the perfromance espescialy where I can see all the members but most of Chromes show from 98 onward were filmed like this. There are also a couple of outtakes on this dvd both from the new age video but unfortunutly there are only 2. I would have liked to have seen more humor behind he scenes with this band making videos but the two that are on here are priceless. Next it's on to the Helios Creed stuff. I'm really not a big fan of his solo stuff and a lot of it I find to be too much to listen to. The videos are I'm Your Spaceman, Sandbox Jungle, The Rant and some weird one which I can't remember the title of. There is also a live performance of Begining Of Light from the Deep Blue Love Vacume tour. This live footage is better then the Armageddon footage by chrome but not by much since it's one single shot and no zoom ins or close ups. You can't see the drummer at all. Cool blue colors on the screen behind them though. So there you have it. That's what you get with the Dual Forces dvd. The main reason why it's only 4 stars is because it's too short. There was more footage that they could have put on here including the alternate New Age video and I would have liked to seen more live Chrome. Espescialy if there is any footage from the Ghost Machine tour in 2002. I really wish Helios added a couple songs of Ghost Machine into his chrome sets. To hear and see one of those songs live would be phoenominal. But what we have is great so if you like collecting dvds and are a huge Chrome fan. This DVD is Essential."
